Well with all of the ominous rumblings going on with this new law suit, I thought it might be nice to end the week with some positive news:

http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22002

Del Toro seems pretty relaxed about the state of things as they are right now, and even more importantly he has all but committed to using all of the same cast from LOTR (where relevant) for the Hobbit!

"But do not trust a hope....it has foresaken these lands" (Sorry, cant help but still be a little "glass is half-empty" because of this dang law suit! LOL)

I'm sure they'll work the lawsuit out soon enough. It's not like they want to slow production up too much.

Begging your pardon but it's not like WHO wants to slow up production too much??

New Line, PJ and the rest? I agree with you wholeheartedly.

HOWEVER, The Tolkien estate seems to feel differently. Apparently Christopher Tolkien didn't even want them to make the LOTR films in the first place, at least that is what I ascertained through a pelantir long ago. Why he would feel that way is beyond me, his father's story has reached so many more people and touched so many more hearts and souls that way.... I don't know, I will chalk it up to the fact that he is British lol, no offense to anybody from the UK. But yea, New Line needs to approach Big Daddy Time Warner and get some serious loot together in order to placate the Tolkiens before this situation goes from bad to horrendous.

On the glass half-full side, production isn't supposed to start until 2009, am I right? So something might be worked out, this suit doesn't have to go to trial. At the worst we're looking at a delay, not the death of this project. IMHO.

I agree , and I think in projects of this scale , they gonna have to work something out.... and I guess that it will not even get delayed. BTW I found this two sites flow rate, coaching staff GREAT!!

We we'll have to look deep into how this movie is going to dazzle people. I think Del Toro has a good chance of doing it. I mean, is the movie really worth to be made by a different director with not much of how Jackson felt?
