Pardon my ignorance, as I'm new to this website (not new to The Hobbit or LOTR), but is the reason Peter Jackson is not directing this movie because of his fued with NewLine Cinema?

This may still be a reason too, but the main point that is given is that Jackson is involved in other projects and doesn't have the time, if I remember it right.

Yeah, he's not saying it is, but it's possible that it's the reason. That sort of stuff happens a lot in Hollywood.

That's an exciting statement, but even if they get everything worked out as far cast/director/calender/etc., isn't there still that little deal with the Tolkien Trust and their lawsuit to overcome? |

make art under the preusures of long term conflicts, with the company
