Interesting, Ian Holm is expected to narrate. I wonder where they heard that.

Also, I don't think they'll cancel the movie. After it's a written contract it's really hard to turn it around.

I just hope C. Tolkien and new line will come to an agreement, because it would make me really sad to miss two great movies because new line just can´t get enough profit.

Why is it always all about money? Sad

New Line should respect the great work Tolkien did with the LotR and the Hobbit and should pay his son what was once promised to his father.

I bet everything will go fine. If not, it's petition time.

This rumour was started by the Times in London, but seems to be based on pretty thin material. Some of the facts are wrong. It is debunked by Kristin Thompson on her excellent site, the "Frodo Franchise": http://www.kristinthompson.net/blog

That's good that it's a rumor. It sounded kind of like it when they were saying, "Last Crusade". It's just kind of cheesy.

Hmmm...I thought the Times of London was a world-class newspaper, not just some tabloid...If Kristin Thompson is right then they really messed this up.

basicly I know they have the right to sue , but why cancelling the movie
what about all the fans- I'm sure they can close this issue and keep
the project on.... at least I hope so!

"New Line is given ten days after the meeting to respond."
Those ten days are over now. Does anyone know more about this?

I wasn't able to find any information more updated than that, but I did find an article on TORn that summarized the case to that date (June 14, 2008) quite well.

I hope that helps, at least in understanding it a bit more.
