Interesting articles. I like what he said about the dwarves needing to be independent characters. _________________ God Bless |

I liked these articles too. I like what he says and I think I trust him. It sounds like he's going to make Smaug insanely stunning (I cannot wait to see that first sight of him in the theatres), and the dwarves are going to be great. It's good that he wants to make everything believable and how respectful he is of Tolkien. You know, I think we can expect a lot of good from these movies.
Oh, and three? Why would they make three? _________________ Maegnas is my name, I am the spiders bane

| Good! Every little interview that pops up, I feel a lot more comfortable with him directing (News-flash...lol) and he is excepted a lot more in my opinion. Now that we know how he thinks about each character, and smaug, we'll start seeing how nervous he is to make this better than we think. The guy really is a genius, he's really freakin' weird, but he's a genius mind you. I think he understands Peter's vision Pretty well (pretty well i repeat, not as well as Peter would understand... duh). I think we'll see lots of Del Toro, and lots of Phillipa and Fran, but Jackson is farther out of the equation, a little farther than i was thinking he'd be. Del Toro is so fun to hear talk and read. He's just such a funny guy. Watch his commentary for Pan's Labyrinth when he talks about the horses. He totally is right! |

Why 3? I'll take that question.
First of all-money.
second- I could actually see The Hobbit split into part 1 and part 2. I think there is enough material there to do it. Of course these would be shorter movies-like 2 hours each.
The third movie would be the "bridge" movie (covering the events between TH and LotR).

I suppose they could split it. Where would they do it, though? When they're on the edge of Mirkwood, maybe? Or even better, when they open the door to Smaug's lair. _________________ Maegnas is my name, I am the spiders bane

Thats a good question. IMO best would be after Beorn and right before they enter Mirkwood.
However, I dont think they will attempt 3 movies. The will probably do the Hobbit in one and then the bridge in another-so just 2, which would be my preference.
The Hobbit would then need to be about 2 1/2-3 hour movie (with an additional 20-30min for the extended edition). _________________ The road goes ever on and on... |

| Splitting it would be the best idea. I think it should be around the time with Mirkwood or Beorn. I think it would be a lot more easier working with two parts (as I have said before). |
