Peter jackson and Guillermo Del Toro have talked to Empire Magazine.
They confirmed there will be no bridge film but tell the Hobbit over both
films with Including the White Council subplot and Gandalf's coming
and going to Dol Guldur. So we have confirmation The White Council will be a part of The Hobbit.
Edit by Smaug: topic changed from 'Hobbit News' to 'Hobbit story over both films' |

This pleases me!
This is what I had hoped for all along ( see my posts a while ago for a possible split between the two films.) I wonder how dol guldur stuff will fit with copyright though... how much detail from outside of LOTR and the hobbit could they use legally? |

The White Council and Dol Guldur are the best way to Connect The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings storys together apart from Bilbo finding the ring.
The big qustion IS going to be now going to be where they end the first film.My belief Is it will eather be a:The Dwarves being captured by the wood elves b:Bilbo and the Dwarves arriving at Laketown or C:The Death of Smaug.
The White Council going to Dol Guldur and driving out Sauron although he Isn't going by sauron at the time will probally be In the second film. That and the Battle of the 5 armys and the aftermath could sustain the second film. |

"Well, except for the very end that is, which will lead right into “The Fellowship of the Ring”"
“I think Smaug dies in the first movie. So draw your own conclusions.”
Quotes taken from: http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/10/07/hobbit-films-will-be-one-continuous-journey-promises-guillermo-del-toro/
Then I think the first film will end when smaug dies... and the second film will finish the hobbit and tell the story what will happen after and lead into “The Fellowship of the Ring” |

I think exploring Dol Guldor and the White council would be very interesting, but I hope it does not take to much out of the main point: Bilbo's adventure to the lonely mountain _________________ His sword was long, his lance was keen.
His shining helm afar was seen.
The countless stars of heaven's field
Were mirrored in his silver shield. |

| I still think there is enough material to make two 3.5 hours films and one 2 hour one to finish up. Based on the income made from the first three, the want is there. If they make two and leave money on the table they will regret it. I think the fans will want someting new to look forward to every other year. |

You pretty much know they will be able to get the entire Hobbit story on screen with the White Council subplot.Even If the death of Smaug In the climax of film 1 you have the white council going to Dol guldor and their driving Sauron out battle before rejoing Bilbo and the Dwarves under the lonely mountian before going Into the leadup to the Battle of 5 armys and the battle, and aftermath. You may see some of what happens to the survung dwarves after. You could have a stopover at Rivendale where you can ahve discussion of the after math of things between Gandalf and Elrond. The last part of the Hobbit had gandalf and Beon visiting Bilbo years later(which allows you to have Ian Holm briefly return as Bilbo)
I suspect film 2 will show Gollum leaves the Misty Mountians In search for the ring.
They have good chance to show Legloas when the Dwarves are In the wood elves capture and during the battle of five armys.
You also have chance to see Arwen during the rivendale scenes and If the ending Is used to allow Ian Holm to show up briefly as Bilbo then you could also have cameos from Frodo and other hobbits towads the end of the second film.
For me a big question Is will they film the White COuncil scenes In England to accompane Christopher Lee or will they recast Saurman.Of course maybe they can convince him to go to New Zealand. |

After Ian Mckellan, and Andy Serkis the essential actor from Lord of the Rings returning IS Christopher Lee.Since all the White COuncil scenes
will probally be seen Inside it would not he hard to build the sets In England and film those scenes there to accomate Christopher Lee.
and In the hobbit we would get to see him before he turns. |

My only complaint to this is I was looking forward to seeing Balin in Moria. They will have to do something to that story, because we know that Balin is dead in Fellowship, so they have to be careful with how they end The Hobbit. Maybe just imply him going to Moria or something. _________________ Facebook

I don't know that story.
I just know he is alive and well in The hobbit and dead in Fellowship... And I guess he was killed by the goblins/orcs in Moria?
Is this story in the appendix |

I'm not exactly sure where it all takes place in literature, but he is killed by an orc archer. There are several other dwarves from The Hobbit that are in this story. It would have just been a cool thing to see on film... dwarves retaking Moria. _________________ Facebook
